Carnomaly: Completing the Product and Adding AI Agents
Client: Carnomaly, an automotive platform for buying, selling, and owning vehicles Our role: Lead engineering and design Scope: Design and UI/UX, frontend, backend, mobile, AI agents, staffing
The Challenge
The used-vehicle market runs on friction: opaque history, tedious paperwork, and a trust gap between owners and dealers. Carnomaly's answer was an ambitious ecosystem with a consumer app, a dealer portal, and on-chain vehicle records. An earlier development shop's build had stalled, leaving incomplete code and dealerships waiting on a working product.
What We Did
- Re-architected and completed the product: took over the stalled codebase and shipped a unified experience across the consumer mobile app and the CarrDealer portal
- Dealer portal: consumer bid requests, service-drive acquisition, private dealer auctions, buy bids, and dealer-to-dealer messaging
- Mobile apps: one shared codebase powering consumer, dealer, and garage apps for both the US and UK
- AI agent for dealers: chat with conversation history, retrieval over the dealer's own data, and scheduled jobs for a morning brief, anomaly alerts, bid monitoring, drafted buy bids, and weekly insights
- Evaluation and cost control: an eval suite, telemetry, budgets, and permissions so agent quality and spend are measured
- UK launch work: currency and locale fixes, UK inventory data, and end-to-end dealer testing
- Team: helped staff the engineering team as the company grew, and wrote the AI and agentic development proposal that set the roadmap
Outcome
Carnomaly is live and selling to dealerships, with the consumer app and dealer portal in production.
"AW3 did an excellent job re-architecting and completing the Carnomaly product where other dev shops failed. We are now successfully selling to dealerships." Larry Kohlieber, CPTO, Carnomaly
